Japan Pearl Exporters' Association(JPEA)

The JPEA is currently chaired by George Kakuda, entrepreneur and CEO of Kakuda Pearl Co., Ltd., a family-owned company with a long-standing tradition in the cultivation, processing, and commercialization of pearls.  

His career is built on deep industry knowledge and solid international experience. Kakuda began his professional path within the historic family business, where he has served as CEO since 2014.

In his role as President of the JPEA, Kakuda is an authoritative voice in promoting Japanese Akoya pearls on global markets, emphasizing their quality, sustainability, and cultural value. Under his leadership, the association has strengthened initiatives related to international promotion, environmental sustainability, and the enhancement of Japanese savoir-faire in pearl farming and processing. 

Kakuda is also distinguished by his commitment to protecting the marine ecosystems that support pearl production, participating in coastal clean-up programs, circular economy workshops, and supporting the adoption of responsible practices throughout the entire supply chain.

His leadership combines artisanal tradition, strategic innovation, and environmental awareness, contributing to the reinforcement of the international reputation of Japanese pearls as symbols of sustainable and natural luxury.
